Field Hockey Shuts Out Shenandoah

FROSTBURG, MD — Freshman Sarah Rutland (North Potomac, Md./Holy Cross) netted two goals to lead Frostburg State’s field hockey team to a 3-0 victory over visiting Shenandoah Thursday afternoon at Bobcat Field.

The Bobcats improved to 9-6, while the Hornets fell to 2-8.

Rutland opened the game with a goal in the 28th minute. Five minutes later, junior Amanda Griswold (Rockville, Md./Magruder) found the net off a feed from senior Tawni Buck (Perryville, Md./Perryville), ending the half 2-0 in favor of FSU.

In the second half, Rutland scored in the 42nd minute off a pass from senior Heidi Zook (Elverson, Pa./Twin Valley).

Senior goalie Kristin Cousin (Edgewater, Md./South River) played the entire first half, while sophomore Amanda Runion (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) played the second and made one save.

The Bobcats return to action Saturday as they host York for Homecoming and Senior Day beginning at1:00 pm
