Field Hockey Slips by St. Mary's College of Maryland 2-1 in Overtime

ST. MARY'S CITY, MD -Frostburg State University field hockey defeated the St. Mary’s College of Maryland Seahawks 2-1 in overtime today.

Senior Kim Faust (Upper Dublin/Ft.Washington, Pa.) scored the game-winning goal in overtime off an assist from freshman Heidi Zook (Twin Valley/Elverson, Pa.) at the 84 minute mark to give FSU the victory.

Zook scored the first goal for the Bobcats in the 50th minute off an assist from freshman Tawni Buck( Perryville/Perryville, Md.) to go up 1-0. Two minutes later, Sarah Sloane scored for the Seahawks, leveling the score at 1-1. With no scoring for the duration of the second period, the game went to overtime.

Nearing the end of overtime, Faust scored in the extra frame’s seven-on-seven with just 1:51 remaining.

Bobcat goalie Jessica Moore (Culpeper/Bowie, Md.) had 15 saves on the day.

The Bobcats, now 7-4, return to action on Sunday, October 5th, when they host Goucher College at 1:00 p.m.
