BRIDGEWATER, VA — Freshman Sarah Rutland (North Potomac, Md./Holy Cross) scored two goals, including the game-winner, to give Frostburg State a 3-2 overtime win against host Bridgewater in field hockey action Friday afternoon.

The Bobcats remain undefeated with a 2-0 record, while the Eagles fall to 2-1 on the season.

Junior Erin Spadaro began the scoring with a goal in the 11th minute to give Bridgewater a 1-0 advantage. Sophomore Brittany Russell (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills) passed a penalty corner to classmate Michelle Frost (Jessup, Md./Hammond) who then tapped the ball into the net at 21:19, tying the score at one apiece at the break.

In the second half, Rutland scored a goal in the 64th minute off a feed from sophomore Brittney Blystone (Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin) to give FSU the lead. That lead only lasted until there were 14 second left in regulation, when freshman Kendra Anderson found the net for the Eagles to force and extra session.

Seven minutes into overtime, Rutland netted her second goal to give FSU the victory.

Senior goalie Kristin Cousin (Edgewater, Md./South River) played the entire game and had seven saves to earn the win.

The Bobcats return to action Saturday as they travel to Roanoke at 1:00 pm.
