Fiscus to Present Sustainability Seminar at FSU

Dr. Dan Fiscus, an assistant professor of biology at FSU, will present the seminar “Campus Conversation Toward a Paradigm Shift in Life Sciences to Aid Environmental Sustainability” on Thursday, March 10, at 5 p.m. in room 327 of the Compton Science Center. The seminar is part of the FSU Biology Department spring seminar series. This presentation is free and open to the public.

The seminar builds on Fiscus' study of chronic and systematic environmental problems, including climate disruption, increased species extinctions and water pollution as well as strategies for lasting and effective solutions. Fiscus draws connections to earth sciences, economics and philosophy and examines how shared ideas about life influence human values and behaviors.

Fiscus will seek critique, comments, collaboration and campus discussions on these issues after the talk and through other meetings, e-mail and websites he will advertise. This seminar is part of a project for which Fiscus received an FSU Faculty Development Grant.
