Football to Host Nationally Ranked Waynesburg on Senior Day

FROSTBURG, MD — Frostburg State wraps up its three-game home schedule Saturday when it welcomes long-time foe Waynesburg for Senior Day. Ten Bobcats will be playing in their final contest at Bobcat Stadium. Kickoff is 1:00.

The Bobcats fell to 3-4 with a tough 35-33 road contest to Westminster last week, while the Yellow Jackets were idle last week.

Waynesburg is 7-1 for the first time since 1967 and is riding a five-game winning streak.

Waynesburg, which owns a 23-11-1 record against FSU, is 20th in this week’s poll and is also receiving 73 votes (equivalent of 29th) in the America Football Coaches Association Poll. The Yellow Jackets are the fourth Bobcat opponent to earn a national ranking this season.

Frostburg State will look to establish its running game with junior Mike Kitchen (Lebanon, Pa./Lebanon), who set career-highs with 37 carries and 209 rushing yards in last week's tough loss.

He also caught three passes for 22 yards and earned Atlantic Central Football Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors. Kitchen leads the Bobcats with 530 yards on 121 carries this season.

Senior Grant Burrough (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) has completed 124-of-212 passes for 1,304 and 10 touchdowns but has been intercepted eight times.

Last week, he completed 15-of-29 passes for 177 yards and a season-high three touchdowns as well as two interceptions.

Junior Adam J. Snyder (Scottdale, Pa./South Moreland) leads the Bobcats with 29 catches for 299 yards and four touchdowns, while sophomore Jason McLaughlin (Baltimore, Md./Lansdowne) has 24 receptions for 226 yards and three scores.

Senior Roy Olson (Lexington Park, Md./Great Mills) has added 23 catches for 374 yards and three more touchdowns.

Waynesburg was idle last week following after stunning then-No. 9 and previously unbeaten Washington & Jefferson 27-17 October 25. The victory guaranteed the Yellow Jackets at least a share of its first Presidents' Athletic Conference title since 1998.

Waynesburg, whose lone loss was a 31-30 setback to Gettysburg, boasts one of the highest-scoring offenses in the nation at 38.8 points per game.

The Yellow Jacket ground attack is averaging 220.6 yards per game behind three freshmen.

Eric Daniels leads the way with 590 yards and eight touchdowns, while Ryan Abels has 541 yards and a team-best nine scores. Dennis Gearhart has added 411 yards.

Junior quarterback Jeff Dumm is enjoying an outstanding season, having completed 128-of-194 passes (66.0%) for 1,506 yards and 18 touchdowns against 10 interceptions. He has helped Waynesburg score 40 or more points four times this season.

Sophomore Ivan Hawkins (38-458-3), junior Paul D’Imperio (36-571-6) and sophomore Dominick Hunter (32-301-4) have each hauled in 30 or more passes and have combined for 13 of Waynesburg’s 42 touchdowns this season.
