Frostburg State University Dance Alums Return for Winter Dance Concert

Frostburg State University Dance Alums Return for Winter Dance Concert
The Department of Theatre and Dance at Frostburg State University will present the Winter Dance Concert on Dec. 5 and 6 at 7:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center.

Featuring an array of styles from jazz and contemporary to hip-hop and musical theatre, the evening will highlight original choreography by FSU alums Nicole Frost, Kelley Jones and Jamie McGreevy, who is also serving as Dance Company Director. Additional pieces created by hip-hop choreographer Nicki Bailey and FSU Dance Company members will also be featured in the concert.

In addition to choreographing a modern duet to Colbie Caillat’s “Magic,” Nicole Frost will return to the Drama Theatre stage to perform a modern/contemporary piece titled “My Grandmother: My Angel” to music by Blessed Union of Souls. Frost, whose work has been featured in Paris and numerous parts of the U.S., holds her master’s degree in performing arts, with a focus in dance education, from American University.

Director Jamie McGreevy will present two new pieces: one lyrical contemporary piece to “Slow Me Down” by Emmy Rossum and a modern jazz dance to “VooDoo” by the Massachusetts rock sensation, Godsmack. McGreevy holds a bachelor’s degree in dance from FSU and has been dancing under the instruction of Frostburg Dance Academy for 22 years, where she also teaches. Audiences will also not want to miss Nicki Bailey’s hip-hop jam to a mix of today’s hottest songs, or a new contemporary work by Kelley Jones.

Tickets to the Winter Dance Concert are $6 for students and $12 for the general public. For reservations and information, please call the theatre box office at 301-687-7462, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
