Frostburg State University Hosts Awakening the Dreamer Symposium

Frostburg State University’s Learning Green. Living Green Initiative will host Awakening the Dreamer: Changing the Dream Symposium on Sunday, Oct. 11, from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Lane University Center’s Alice R. Manicur Assembly Hall. This event is free and open to the public for ages 13 and above.

In 2005, the Pachamama Alliance, a group of indigenous tribes along the basins of Ecuador and Peru, created the symposium as a way to send out their message of peace and love for the environment. The symposium is a powerful and moving event that involves multi-media, live music, and features interactions with the audience and among the audience. The audience will participate by looking at relationships based on social, economic, cultural and spiritual issues and what we need to do to create a brighter future for those that follow. Video clips of social change leaders such as 1984 Nobel Peace Prize recipient Desmond Tutu, environmentalist Paul Hawken and economic consultant Majora Carter will be shown throughout the event.
