Frostburg State University to Host a “Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration”

In memory of the life and accomplishments of Martin Luther King, Jr., Frostburg State University will hold its annual “MLK Celebration,” an evening of music and readings focusing on freedom and equality. The event will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, in the Pealer Recital Hall of the Performing Arts Center.

Outgoing president of the Student Government Association Shavonne Shorter will lead FSU students in a series of readings that reflect Dr. King’s thoughts and feelings on freedom and equality. Musical selections for the evening will include performances by pianist Betty Jane Phillips, the FSU Chamber Choir and FSU’s Unified Voices Under God’s Dominion. A special multi-media educational display featuring Dr. King and other Civil Rights leaders will be on exhibit in the Performing Arts Center lobby.

Please join FSU for this special celebration, which is free and open to the public. A reception will be held in the Performing Arts Center lobby immediately following the event. For more information, contact the FSU Office of the Provost at (301) 687-4211.
