Frostburg State University Will Offer Maryland Certified Pool Operator Certification and Recertification

A Maryland certified pool operator certification and recertification class will be offered through Frostburg State University’s Activities for Life in room 220B of FSU’s Cordts Physical Education Center. The recertification class will be held on Saturday, May 6, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The full certification class will be on Saturday, May 6, and Sunday, May 7, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on both dates.

Participants will learn about pool safety and management, filtration, circulation, disinfection, water chemistry and Maryland pool and spa regulations (COMAR).

After successfully completing the course and passing the written test, participants will be certified in Maryland to operate public and private swimming pools and spas.

This is a state of Maryland-approved Certified Pool/Spa Operator (CPO) course. Participants must be 16 years old to participate and be issued certification.

Some counties in Maryland charge a fee to obtain a county license. (Allegany County does not.) The fee is not included in the cost of the course.

The registration and payment deadline is Monday, May 1. Brian Vought is the instructor for this class.
