FSU Junior Nicole Sirois Will Perform Voice Recital

Frostburg State University junior Nicole Sirois will perform a voice recital at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2, at the FSU Performing Arts Center Pealer Recital Hall. Sirois’s performance is free and open to the public.

The recital will include Purcell’s “Sound the Trumpet,” Handel’s “O Had I Jubal’s Lyre,” Bach’s “Quia Respexit,” Schubert’s “Wohin,” Brahms’s “Vergebliches Standchen” and “Wie Melodien zieht es mir,” Massenet’s “Elegie,” Faure’s “Reve d’amour,” Lauridsen’s “Dirait-ons,” Mozart’s “Batti, Batti, o bel Masetto” from “Don Giovanni,” Gounod’s “O Dieu! Que de bijoux!” (Jewel Song) from “Faust,” Strauss’ “Tales from the Vienna Woods,” Herbert’s “Art Is Calling for Me” from “The Enchantress” and Mozart’s “Sub tuum praesidium, Offertorium, K. 198.”

Sirois will be accompanied on piano by Judith Brown and on the Purcell piece and second Mozart piece by soprano Jessie Ragland.

A music major with a concentration in voice performance and a Spanish minor, Sirois expects to graduate in May 2010. She plans to obtain a master’s degree in vocal pedagogy, teach private voice lessons at the university level and perform in local theater and opera groups. Sirois has studied under FSU instructor Pat Kelby. Her earlier instruction was under May Rybak. Sirois is the vice president of Delta Omicron, the professional music fraternity. Sirois is the daughter of Wayne and Kathy Sirois of Dunkirk, Md.
