FSU Presents Independent Film “Their Eyes Were Watching God”

Frostburg State University will present the independent film “Their Eyes Were Watching God” on Friday, March 30, at 7 p.m. in the Lane University Center Atkinson Room 201. This film is free and open to the public.

The novel “Their Eyes Were Watching God” was written by famed author Zora Neale Hurston. The film was adapted and executive produced by Oprah Winfrey. Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry stars as Janie Crawford, a black woman whose journey takes her through three marriages with very different men. During this time, she experiences all that life has to offer, from tremendous success to unspeakable heartbreak.

The film depicts the timeless, lyrical and passionate story of a beautiful and resilient woman’s quest for love, sensual excitement and spiritual fulfillment, despite society’s expectations of a woman of color in late 1920s America. This film is not rated.

The film is presented through University Programming Council’s International/Independent Film Series.
