FSU Professor Awarded Fulbright Scholarship to Study in Finland

Dr. Henry Bullamore, professor in Frostburg State University's Department of Geography, has been awarded a Fulbright grant to the University of Turku in Finland, the U.S. Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board announced recently.

Bullamore received a lecturing research award for University of Turku's Department of Geography. From August to December, 2000, Bullamore will instruct courses on "Political Geography" and "North American Small Towns and Cities." He will also conduct comparative research with Finnish small towns.

"I'm very pleased about this award and my teaching opportunities," says Bullamore, a resident of Frostburg, Md. "This is also a great way to extend my research in small towns to another context."

Bullamore is one of approximately 2000 U.S. grantees who will travel abroad for the 2000/2001 academic year through the Fulbright Program. Established in 1946 under legislation introduced by the late Senator J. William Fulbright of Arkansas, the program's purpose is to build mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the rest of the world.

The Fulbright Program, America's flagship international education exchange program, is sponsored by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, United States Department of State. For more information about the program, visit the Web site at
