FSU Sponsored PHILADANCO Dance Event to Include Pre-Performance Discussion and Master Dance Class

Frostburg State University invites dance aficionados to a pre-performance discussion with Joan Myers-Brown, PHILADANCO founder and artistic director on Saturday, March 16 at 7 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center Drama Theatre. This event immediately precedes the 8 p.m. performance of PHILADANCO at the same location.

Hailed by The New York Times as "exuberant," PHILADANCO is one of America's foremost dance ensembles. Celebrating its 31st season, the Philadelphia-based company is described by many as one with unparalleled energy and superior technical ability.

PHILADANCO will also hold a master dance class for dance students from FSU and the surrounding Maryland and West Virginia communities on Saturday afternoon, March 16. Taught by members of the PHILADANCO ensemble, the class will offer modern dance techniques.

For more information about either the pre-performance discussion or the afternoon masterclass, contact Susan Manger, FSU Cultural Events Outreach Coordinator, at (301) 687-7595.

PHILADANCO will appear in public performance on Saturday, March 16 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, March 17 at 2 p.m. in the FSU Performing Arts Center Drama Theatre. Heinz Endowment, the William Penn Foundation, the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency, and the Pew Charitable Trusts and is administered by the Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation. The ensemble's tour is also supported by a grant from the Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts Regional Touring Program.
