FSU to Host Satellite Event for National Conference on Science, Policy and the Environment

Anyone with an interest in the scientific and policy issues surrounding energy and climate change is invited to Frostburg State University to attend the free satellite event of the 15th National Conference on Science, Policy and the Environment: Energy and Climate Change from Tuesday, Jan. 27, to Thursday, Jan. 29. The broadcast of the program, with interactive participation available for the question-and-answer segments, will be in room 397 of the Center for Communications and Information Technology.

The event is free and open to the public. However, as seating is limited, pre-registration for the conference dates is strongly encouraged. Participants may attend any or all of the conference dates.

The annual conference attracts more than 1,200 leaders in science and engineering, policy and governance, business and education to expand efforts to work across traditional boundaries. Speakers and session participants include leading voices in science, industry and government in the U.S. and abroad. The themes of this year’s conference are energy and climate change, with a goal of advancing partnerships that are focused on transitioning the world to a low-carbon and climate-resilient energy system, putting ideas into action and moving forward on policy and practice.

FSU is an affiliate institution of the National Council for Science and the Environment (NCSE), the sponsor of the conference. The conference’s satellite option is being offered for the first time this year, and FSU is one of only seven institutions nationwide selected to host a satellite site.

The conference schedule can be found at For more information or to register for the event, contact Linda Steele at 301-687-4137 or

NCSE, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the scientific basis for environmental decision-making, does not take positions on environmental issues and maintains a reputation for objectivity and non-partisanship. For more information, visit
