FSU’s Andy Duncan Nominated for Hugo and Nebula Awards for Science Fiction

Frostburg State University Associate Professor of English Andy Duncan has been named a finalist in both the 2014 Hugo Awards and the 2014 Nebula Awards for “Wakulla Springs,” a novella he co-wrote with Ellen Klages.

The Nebula Awards, organized by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America, and the Hugo Awards, organized by the World Science Fiction Society, recognize the best science fiction and fantasy works written in the previous year. Previous finalists for the Best Novella award include Neil Gaiman for the Hugos and Michael Bishop for the Nebulas.

Duncan won a Nebula in 2013 for his novelette “Close Encounters.” He has been nominated for the Hugo Awards three times and for the Nebula Awards eight times.

The Nebula winners will be announced on Saturday, May 17, in San Jose, Calif.; the Hugo winners will be announced on Sunday, Aug. 17, at the World Science Fiction Convention in London.
