FSU’s Adam Pomeroy to Perform Junior Vocal Recital

Frostburg State University student Adam Pomeroy, tenor/countertenor, will present his junior music recital on Friday, Nov. 11, at 8 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU’s Performing Arts Center. The recital is free and open to the public.

Accompanied by pianist Sean Beachy, Pomeroy will perform Hahn’s “A Chloris,” Fauré’s “Lydia,” Debussy’s “Romance,” Schubert’s “Standchen” and “Auf Dem Flusse” and Schumann’s “Auf einer Berg.” He will also perform arias from Handel’s “Serse” and “Alcina” and a couple of African-American spiritual field songs set by Moses Hogan, “Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child” and “Give Me Jesus,” as well as Stephen Sondheim’s “Giants in the Sky” and “No One Is Alone.” The recital also includes two duets: Pomeroy and tenor Brent Mitchell will perform Purcell’s “Sound the Trumpet,” and Pomeroy and soprano Britany Poindexter will perform Rossini’s “Qui Tollis” (from “Petite Messe Solennelle”).

Pomeroy is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and Phi Delta Sigma Fraternity. He graduated from Fort Hill High School and is the son of Mary Bucy of Cumberland, Md. Pomeroy expects to graduate from FSU in fall 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in vocal performance and a foreign language minor. He plans on teaching voice and piano, as well as performing opera, lieder and musical theater. His additional plans are to continue his vocal training and work toward a master’s in vocal pedagogy.
