FSU’s Center for Creative Writing to Present Poetry Slam

Frostburg State University’s Center for Creative Writing will present the bi-annual Poetry Slam on Thursday, April 12, at 7:30 p.m. at Dante’s Bar, 14 W. Main St., Frostburg. Sign-ups will begin at 7 p.m. The event is open to the public, but participants and attendees must be at least age 18 or older.

Writers must bring three of their own poems. They will have five minutes to perform each poem, as well as a 10-second grace period. Points will be deducted for exceeding the five-minute time period. No props, costumes or musical instruments are permitted. Poems will be judged on literary merit, and cash prizes will be awarded to the top three contestants.
