FSU’s Laura Fehle to Perform Senior Vocal Recital

Frostburg State University student Laura Fehle will present her senior soprano recital, accompanied by pianist Judith Brown on Sunday, Nov. 13, at 3 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU’s Performing Arts Center. The recital is free and open to the public.

Fehle will present Antonio Vivaldi’s “Si, si, luci adorate” featuring Dr. Ellen Grolman on violincello, as well as Aaron Copland’s “Laurie’s Song” (from “The Tender Land”) and Ricky Ian Gordon’s “Once I Was.” She will also perform works by Edvard Grieg, Reynaldo Hahn, Friederich Flotow, Samuel Barber and W.A. Mozart.

A major in FSU’s Department of Music, Fehle studies voice with Dr. Karen Soderberg. FSU’s Department of Music recently awarded her a performance on this year’s annual President’s Concert, which will be Sunday, Nov. 6, at 3 p.m. Fehle has been chosen as a member of the Chamber Choir every semester since she came to FSU, and she participates in the University Chorale as well as works on the Music Stage Crew. Fehle is active in the nationally recognized BURG Peer Education Network, a group of peers who believe in empowering, educating and creating change among their peers and their community. Her academic honors include the Dean’s List, Talent in the Arts Scholarship, Marguerite Witwer Richards Scholarship and University Scholar Scholarship. Fehle is the daughter of Mike and Stacy Fehle of New Windsor, Md., and Daniel and Tammy Richardson of Westminster, Md. She graduated from Delone Catholic High School in June 2007, and expects to graduate from FSU in May 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in music education. Fehle plans to teach elementary music or work in the field of substance abuse prevention.
