FSU’s Mind Culture Music Project to Host Live Music Events

The Department of Mass Communication at Frostburg State University will host two live music events as part of the Mind Culture Original Music project. Both events will feature local and regional musicians. The first event will be held Friday, May 7, at the Frostburg Eagles on Main Street, Frostburg. Doors will open at 6 p.m., with music beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 for the general public and $3 with FSU ID.

The second show will be Saturday, May 8, at the Mountain City Coffeehouse and Creamery on Main Street. The show will run from 5 until 7 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

Both shows will feature music from the Department’s latest Mind Culture Original Music project. Each spring the department, as part of a class, solicits original music from local and regional artists in hopes of creating an eclectic collection of music for a CD. This year’s project will include 21 original songs on two compact discs. Artists on this year’s disc include Sheri Whalen, who submitted a tribute to Flight 3407, a commuter plane that crashed outside Buffalo, N.Y., early last year. Other artists to appear on the CD include the Velcro Leaves, Gina Powell, the Christmas Lights and dhruva. Volume VII of the Mind Culture project will be available for purchase at both shows. All proceeds will benefit the Department of Mass Communication through the FSU Foundation, Inc.
