Frostburg State University student Nicole Buzgierski will present her senior soprano recital, accompanied by pianist Bomi Lim Tunstall, on Sunday, Oct. 23, at 3 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU’s Performing Arts Center. The recital is free and open to the public.

Buzgierski will perform Italian works by Paisiello, Cesti and Cesarini. She will also perform German works by Mendelssohn and Schubert, as well as four Spanish pieces by Enrique Granados and three English pieces by Samuel Barber. Buzgierski will also present the arias “Bel Piacere” from Handel’s “Agrippina,” “Vedrai, carino” from Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” and “O mio babbino caro” from Puccini’s “Gianni Schicchi.”

Buzgierski is a member of Phi Eta Sigma freshman honor society. She is also a member of the National Association for Music Education and FSU’s University Chorale. Buzgierski is the daughter of Kames and Tina Brooks of Aberdeen, Md., and has been on the Dean’s List every semester she’s been at FSU. She has been the Department of Music’s theory, aural skills and piano tutor for the last two years and is studying voice with FSU Professor Dr. Karen Soderberg. A 2008 graduate of Harford Technical High School, Buzgierski expects to graduate from Frostburg in May 2012 with a Bachelor of Science degree in music education and plans to teach music at the elementary or secondary level.
