Golf Finishes Third at Penn State Behrend Invitational

FINDLAY LAKE, NY — Frostburg State shot a 305 to finish third out of 12 Division III teams at the Penn State Behrend Invitational Thursday at the Peak & Peak Resort.

Freshman Sean Buenger (Westminster, Md./Westminster) earned medalist honors by three shots after leading all Division III players with a three-under 69. Buenger was second overall out of a combined 95 Division II and Division III participants.

Sophomore Ian Umphrey (Prince Frederick, Md./Calvert) shot a 73 to place third among Division III players and seventh overall.

Senior Matt Dicks (Cumberland, Md./Fort Hill) shot an 81 and senior Steve McIntyre (Schellsburg, Pa./Chestnut Ridge) shot an 82.

Penn State Behrend “A” shot a 297 to lead all Division III teams, while Daeman was second with a 302. Penn State Altoona finished fourth with a 306, followed by Pitt-Bradford in fifth with a 311.

"We're starting to settle down and we're getting some momentum with each match," said Bobcat first-year Head Coach Rick Flowers.

Frostburg State returns to action Tuesday in the La Roche Fall Invitational at Wildwood Golf Club in Allison Park, Pa.
