Golf Places Second/Fifth at Penn State Altoona Invitational

TYRONE, Pa. — The Frostburg State red golf team shot a 321 to finish second while the black team shot a 345 to capture fifth out of nine teams at the Penn State Altoona Invitational Monday, at Sinking Valley Golf Course.

Leading the red squad was junior Ian Umphrey (Huntingtown, Md./Calvert) and sophomore Joe Eaton (Baltimore Md./Pikesville) who both shot 78 to finish tied for second place overall.

Sophomore Sean Buenger (Westminster, Md./Westminster) finished third on the red team with an 81 followed by freshman Ian Estabrook (Kensington, Md./Einstein) with an 84 and junior Wayne Rice (Cumberland, Md./Fort Hill) with an 88. Leading the black squad was sophomore Mike Alahouzos (Silver Spring, Md./James Hubert Blake (Montgomery CC)) who finished in fifth place with a 79.

Junior James Avampato (Havre De Grace, Md./Aberdeen (Lees-McRae)) took home second place capturing seventh with an 82 and freshman Jack Lipps (Elkton, Md./Elkton) was third on the team with a 90.

Freshman Hunter Mink (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) landed in 37th with a 94 and sophomore Jon Stepanuk (Prince Frederick, Md./Calverton School) placed 40th with a 98.

The Bobcats return to action Thursday, September 22, at the Penn State Behrend Invitational.
