Handy Named AMCC Player of the Week

GIBSONIA, Pa. — Frostburg State freshman forward Tonya Handy (Burtonsville, Md./Paint Branch) was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference women’s basketball Player of the Week, Monday.

Handy helped to lead the Bobcats to a 2-0 start and the FSU/Jim Crawley Tournament championship. She averaged 12.0 points per game and 13.5 rebounds per game, including 7.0 boards a contest on the offensive end of the court. On defense, she averaged 3.5 blocks and three steals per game.

Handy debuts her collegiate career as the AMCC leader in both rebounds and blocks and was named to the all-tournament team this past weekend.

FSU returns to the court this weekend at the Gallaudet Tournament starting on Saturday, Nov. 25.
