Hlebasko, Parker Named to 2006 AMCC All-Academic Team

GIBSONIA, Pa. — Frostburg State senior Beth Hlebasko (New Market, Md./Linganore) and junior Andrew Parker (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) were recently named to the 2005-06 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Faculty Representative All-Academic Team.

The team is made up of one male and one female student-athlete from each of the 10 AMCC member institutions, and honorees are selected by their respective schools.

Hlebasko capped an impressive career for the FSU women’s soccer team after finishing the season fifth on the squad in scoring. She helped lead the Bobcats to their fifth-consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and fifth-straight AMCC Title as the team posted an 11-6-3 overall record.

This past fall, she was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America, District 2 College Division First Team. She was also selected to her third-straight All-AMCC first team. As a member of the Bobcats, Hlebasko started in 82 games scoring six goals and she holds the school record with 33 assists.

Hlebasko holds a 3.83 cumulative GPA in early childhood/elementary education.

Parker is a member of the cross country and track and field teams for Bobcats. He is a long-distance specialist having earned All-Mason Dixon Conference honors on four occasions, twice in both the 5,000-meter and 10,000-meter runs.

Parker owns a 3.79 GPA in secondary education with a double concentration in history and political science.

“We’re extremely proud of these two student-athletes,” said Athletic Director Ralph Brewer. “They not only performed well in their respective sports, but they also excel in the classroom.”
