Jones, Carraghan Take Home ECAC Women's Soccer Honors

CENTERVILLE, VA — Frostburg State senior Kelly Jones (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) and junior Erin Carraghan (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) earned weekly honors from the Eastern College Athletic Conference today.

Jones was named the ECAC Division III Mid-Atlantic Goalie of the Week, while Carraghan was selected the ECAC Division III Mid-Atlantic Player of the Week after helping the Bobcats win their fourth straight Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Tournament championship.

Jones was in the net for both of FSU’s AMCC Tournament wins. In the semifinal round, she recorded one save in a 2-0 victory over Pitt-Greensburg and earned her fourth shutout this season.

In the championship game, Jones had nine saves as the Bobcats edged rival Penn State Behrend 3-2 in double overtime to earn the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament. Jones improved her record to 10-2-1.

Carraghan scored a pair of goals in the AMCC Tourament. She found the net in the 2-0 win over Pitt-Greensburg in the semifinals and headed in the game-winner off a corner kick in the second overtime to lift the Bobcats past Penn State Behrend in the title match.

Both players earned weekly honors from the AMCC as well this past Monday.
