Kotofski Named ECAC Player of the Week and Ties Her Own Single-Season Scoring Record

FROSTBURG, MD - Junior Karen Kotofski (Northeast/Glen Burnie, Md.), who was recently named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Player of the Week for the second straight week, was also named Eastern College Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week.

Kotofski scored five times last week and had an assist on the only other goal scored by the Bobcats. On October 30th, Kotofski, who scored both goals in a 2-0 victory against Bethany College (W.Va.), raised her career total to 120 points, surpassing Amy Foote’s record of 118 points set in 2001. Earlier this season, Kotofski also broke Amy Foote’s scoring record of 49 career goals.

On November 1st, Kotofski led the Bobcats with three goals and an assist in a 4-1 victory over Penn State Behrend, which secured FSU the AMCC regular season championship and a number one seeding in the conference tournament.

Kotofski celebrated the honor of ECAC Player of the Week by scoring two goals, including her seventh game-winner of the year, in a come from behind 3-1 win over La Roche College on Tuesday in the AMCC tournament semifinals. The two goals improved her season total to 21, which ties her own single-season school record for goals that she set as a freshman in 2001.

She leads the AMCC with 1.19 goals per game and ranks second with 2.63 points per game, which currently would rank her nationally in the top 30 in both categories. She also leads the team with 46 points, which improves her recently set FSU career records to 59 goals and 131 points.
