Kotofski named to Verizon/CoSIDA All-Academic Soccer Team

FROSTBURG, MD - Frostburg State junior Karen Kotofski (Northeast/Glen Burnie, Md.) was named to the 2003 Verizon/CoSida Academic All-District II Second Team for women’s soccer for the second consecutive season. Kotofski is an early childhood elementary education major carrying a 3.776 G.P.A.

Kotofski, who was named the 2003 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Player of the Year following the Bobcats third straight conference title, set four school records in 2003. Her 22 goals surpass her old single-season mark of 21 that she set as a freshman in 2001. Her 49 points ties her single-season mark that she also set in 2001.

In her three seasons at Frostburg State, she has accumulated school-records of 60 career goals and 134 points. Both marks broke Amy Foote’s records of 49 goals and 118 points set in 2001.

Kotofski, who was one of only two sophomores selected to the 2002 Verizon/CoSida Academic All-District II Second Team, has scored eight goals in her last four games, including three game-winners.

This season, Kotofski and the Bobcats won their first regular-season AMCC championship and are currently riding a school-record 11-game winning streak. They recently received their third consecutive invitation to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

FSU will host Westminster (Pa.) College in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament Wednesday, November 12th at 1:00 pm.
