Lacrosse Loses to Ursinus

FROSTBURG, MD — Frostburg State dropped its third-straight game to visiting Ursinus Thursday afternoon in women’s lacrosse action at Bobcat Field.

The Bears (9-6) opened the scoring with four consecutive goals to control the game with 18:54 left on the clock. The Bobcats (5-8) came close when sophomores Carly Rihard (Hampstead, Md./North Carroll) and Lindsay Lamont (Sykesville, Md./Century), and senior Stefanie Ritz (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) each found the net to close the gap, 4-3, at the 12:00 mark.

After back-to-back goals from UC, Lamont scored her second goal of the game, followed by a late goal from junior Ashley Mattison (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) with four seconds left in the half, to bring FSU to within 8-6 at the break.

The second half started with Ursinus scoring two straight goals to take a 10-6 lead. Rihard and Lamont scored 10 seconds apart to narrow the gap 10-7 with 17:08 left in regulation.

The Bears and the Bobcats exchanged goals before UC would net four more scores to seal the victory.

Lamont led the Bobcats with four goals and an assist.

Freshman Bobcat keeper Erin Morrell (Easton, Md./Easton) picked up 7 saves in the loss.

FSU returns to action on Saturday April 22, as it hosts the College of New Jersey for a game beginning at 1:00 pm.
