Martin Takes Home Second Straight AMCC Softball Player of the Week Award

PITTSBURGH — Frostburg State freshman Ashley Martin (Manchester, Md./North Carroll) was named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Softball Player of the Week Monday.

It is her second consecutive AMCC weekly honor and her third of the season. A Bobcat player has now earned five of the six Player of the Week awards.

Martin continued her torrid hitting streak, going 5-for-7 with three doubles, five runs scored and four RBI in a doubleheader sweep of conference foe Pitt-Greensburg April 14.

Martin, who is riding a 10-game hitting streak, leads the Bobcats with a .423 batting average, 30 hits, 11 doubles, four home runs, a school-record tying 33 RBIs and an .803 slugging percentage.

She is also tied for the team lead with two triples and ranks second with 22 runs scored.

She is first among AMCC players in RBIs, doubles and home runs, and she ranks third in batting average.

The Bobcats (13-8 overall, 7-3 AMCC) return to action Tuesday when they host Columbia Union for a doubleheader beginning at 3:00 pm.
