McNew Leads Bobcats to 19th Place at NCAA Regional Championships

Carlisle, Pa. ... Senior Megan McNew (White Hall, Md./North Harford) finished 28th out of 237 runners to lead the Frostburg State women's cross country team to 19th place out of 35 teams at the NCAA Division III Mid-East Regional Championships Saturday at Dickinson College.

McNew, who placed 31st a year ago, ran the 5,000-meter course in 19:53.10. Sophomore Inga Olsen (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) finished 39th overall in 20:14.10, improving on her 44th-place showing at last year's meet.

Freshman Elizabeth Sauder (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) came in 131st overall with a time of 21:40.10, while fellow freshman Katharine Eads (West Point, Iowa/Central Lee) was 146th in 21:54.90. Senior Sara DeBoer (Odenton, Md.Arundel) finished 154th with a time of 22:02.70.

Moravian won the women's title with 54 points, followed by host Dickinson (77) and Haverford (92). Moravian's Heidi Wolfsberger captured the women's individual championship in a time of 18:17.40.
