Men's Basketball Dominates Penn State Altoona on Senior Night

FROSTBURG, MD — Junior Pierre Bowery (Kensington, Md./Albert Einstein) tied his season high with 29 points and senior Sean Brown (Baltimore, Md./North County) added 23 to lead Frostburg State past Penn State Altoona, 100-51, on Senior Night Wednesday night at Bobcat Arena.

Bowery shot 12-of-16 from the floor and added seven rebounds, while Brown hit 9-of-12 shots to go along with six rebounds and six assists.

The Bobcats (13-11, 8-3 AMCC) held a 17-8 lead nearing the midway point of the first half before blowing the game open with a 10-0 spurt. FSU continued to pull away, taking a 36-14 advantage on one of several powerful dunks from Bowery.

The lead grew to as many as 30, 52-22, on one of Brown's game-high three three-pointers with 1:03 left in the first half. The Bobcats took a 52-25 advantage at the break.

Frostburg State poured it on after halftime, with its lead hitting 51, 90-39, on a jumper by sophomore Jamal Peterson (Washington, D.C./Laurel) with 6:09 remaining.

Sophomore Kamillo Rosenthal (Munich, Germany/Catholic (Va.)) added 10 points, while senior Tony Burns (Cumberland, Md./Fort Hill) set career-highs with seven points and six rebounds for FSU.

The game marked the final regular-season home appearances for Brown, Burns, Elroy Henley (Owings Mills, Md./Randallstown), Mike Millione (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) and Reynolds Mason (Philadelphia, Pa./Norristown).

Sophomore Kenny Edwards scored 14 points for Penn State Altoona (4-20, 3-8), which hit just 13-of-53 (24.5 percent) from the field and committed 26 turnovers. The Cougars shot 24-of-34 from the free throw line.

Frostburg State closes out its regular season at La Roche on Saturday at 8 p.m. The Bobcats will host an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference first-round tournament game on Wednesday at Bobcat Arena. The opponent and game time will be determined late Sunday.
