Men's Basketball Downed by Neumann in Consolation Game of Blue Jay Invitational

BALTIMORE, MD — Derhan Patrick scored a game-high 28 points to lead Neumann to an 81-64 victory against Frostburg State in the consolation game of the Johns Hopkins Blue Jay Invitational Saturday evening.

Junior Daniel Ryley (Frederick, Md./St. John's Prospect Hall) led the Bobcats with 11 points and five boards and was named to the All-Tournament team.

FSU battled to an early 5-5, but the Knights went on a 9-0 run to take a 14-5 lead and never looked back. Patrick scored 15 consecutive points to help Neumann open a 33-18 advantage.

By the end of the first half, Neumann led the way 42-26.

The Bobcats were able to get within 11 points, 42-31, on a layup from Ryley early in the second half, but that was as close as they would get.

Neumann’s lead grew to as much as 22, 63-41, on a Dehand lay-up with 9:30 left in the game.

Ronnie Fields (14), Andre Wright (13) and Randy Maultsby (11) also scored in double digits for Neumann. Red-shirt sophomore Brian Owen (Gainesville, Va./Brentsville) added 10 points for the Bobcats.

Frostburg State returns to action Tuesday as it travels to Waynesburg at 7:30.
