Men's Basketball Drops Heartbreaker to Chowan

MURFREESBORO, NC — Junior Pierre Bowery (Kensington, Md./Albert Einstein) scored a game-high 26 points and pulled down nine rebounds, but it wasn't enough to overcome five Chowan players in double figures as the Bobcats fell to the Braves, 74-72, Monday night at the Helms Center.

Chowan improved to 2-1 on the year, while the Bobcats fell to 1-2.

Senior Sean Brown (Baltimore, Md./North County) was apparently hit on the arm on a three-point attempt from the far corner with four seconds left, but no foul was called and the Braves grabbed the rebound as time expired.

Brown was the only other Bobcat to score in double digits, pouring in 15 points and adding a game-high nine assists and four steals. He hit a pair of clutch three-pointers in the finals minutes to bring FSU to within striking distance.

Freshman Kamillo Rosenthal (Munich, Germany, Catholic (Va.)) set career-high's with nine points and seven rebounds in a losing effort.

Anthony Jones paced Chowan with 18 points and four rebounds, while Bryan Christian added 15 points, six rebounds and five assists. Dejaun Green had 14 points, and Jerimy Norwood and Rocky Ferrante had 10 apiece.

The Bobcats return to action on Saturday when they visit Washington & Jefferson for a 3 p.m. contest.
