Men's Basketball Picked to Finish Fourth in AMCC Preseason Poll

GIBSONIA, PA — The Frostburg State University men’s basketball team has been picked to finish fourth in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference according to a vote taken by the league’s head coaches.

The Bobcats return three starters and six letterwinners from last year’s team that posted a 12-15 overall record and finished sixth in the AMCC with an 8-10 mark.

FSU defeated Penn State Behrend in the first round of the AMCC Tournament, 59-54, but lost in the semifinals to Pitt-Greensburg, 69-54.

Penn State Behrend is the favorite to win this year’s title. Last season, the Lions finished 20-8 overall and 13-5 in the conference and third in the regular-season standings.

Lake Erie, last season’s champion, was picked to finish second. The Storm (21-7, 15-3) won the conference championship and earned the leagues’ automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

PSB junior center Kevin Bucznski is the Preseason Player of the Yea after being named the 2006-07 Player of the Year. The first-team all-conference selection, averaged 19.0 points and 8.2 rebounds per game during his sophomore campaign.

FSU opens its season against Goucher on November 21 at Bobcat Arena in the opening round of the Pride of Maryland tournament.
