Men's Basketball to Begin Quest for Second Straight AMCC Title Wednesday Against Penn State Altoona

ERIE, PA — The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference announced the pairings for the 2002 AMCC Men's Basketball Tournaments to be held this week.

On the men's side, defending tournament champion Frostburg State earned the No. 3 seed for the second straight season and will host No. 7 Penn State Altoona at Bobcat Arena Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

FSU won both meetings with the Cougars this year, claiming a 101-66 decision at Altoona and a 100-51 win in Frostburg last Wednesday.

Regular-season champion Pitt-Bradford will host the semifinals and championship Friday and Saturday, respectively.

A preview of FSU's first-round game against Penn State Altoona will be posted Tuesday.


First Round - Wednesday, February 20

#7 Lake Erie (8-17, 2-10) at #2 Penn State Behrend (17-7, 9-3) - 8:00 p.m.

#6 Penn State Altoona (4-21, 3-9) at #3 Frostburg State (14-11, 9-3) - 7:30 p.m.

#5 La Roche (8-17, 3-9) at #4 Pitt-Greensburg (8-16, 5-7) - 8:00 p.m.

Semifinals - Friday, February 22 at Bradford, Pa.

#2Penn State Behrend/#7 Lake Erie winner vs. #3 Frostburg State/#6 Penn State Altoona winner - 6:00 p.m.

#4 Pitt-Greensburg/#5 La Roche winner vs. #1 Pitt-Bradford (21-4, 11-1) - 8:00 p.m.

Championship - Saturday, February 23 at Bradford, Pa.

Semifinal Winners - 3:00 p.m.
