Men's Cross Country Finishes 12th at Dickinson Invitational

CARLISLE, PA — The Frostburg State men's cross country team placed 11th in the 4,000-meter race, 19th in the 8,000-meter run and 12th overall out of 19 teams at the Dickinson College Long-Short Invitational Saturday afternoon.

Overall team scores consisted on the top three finishers in each race plus two displaced scores. Team titles were also awarded in each race.

Freshman Ron Lipscomb (Loncaconing, Md./Northern Garrett) was the top Bobcat finisher in the 4,000, placing 43rd in 14:09, while classmate John Densmore (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) was 46th in 14:10.90.

Fellow rookie Justin Marshall (Gaithersburg, Md./Watkins Mill) came in 57th with a time of 14:20.

Three Bobcats set personal records in the 8,000-meter run, led by freshman Sy Farris' (Fort Ashby, W.Va./Frankfort) 74th-place finish in 28:30.

Freshman Kevin Ripple (Mechanicsville, Md./Leonardtown) ran a 28:39 to place 84th, and sophomore Brian Gallagher (Burke, Va./East Lake Hall (Fla.)) was 115th in 29:28.

Sophomore Tim Watson (Monrovia, Md./Urbana) completed the FSU scoring, placing 161st in 31:14.

Frostburg State returns to action next Saturday in the Maryland Colleges Championships at Anne Arundel Community College.
