Men's Soccer Defeats Penn State Behrend

FROSTBURG, MD — On a rained-soaked field, the Frostburg State men’s soccer team defeated Penn State Behrend 2-0 Saturday in an Allegheny Mounatin Collegiate Conference matchup.

The Bobcats improved to 10-5-1 overall and 5-2 in the AMCC while Penn State Behrend fell to 8-5-1 overall and 3-3-1 in the conference.

Right from the start, the Lions took seven of the game’s first eight shots but couldn’t slip one past Bobcat sophomore keeper Derek Richardson (New Windsor, Md./Linganore) who recorded six saves in the first 15 minutes.

FSU settled down as sophomore Jo-Jo Duah (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook(Potomac State)) scored the game’s first goal in the 27th minute of a feed from sophomore Sean Quealy (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa).

The first half would end with Frostburg State holding a 1-0 lead.

Lion sophomore Stan Kaweesi-Katongole’s shot hit the post just over nine minutes into the second period, and he would later miss a penalty kick in the 66th minute.

Bobcat freshman Kenny Dotter (Baltimore, Md./Sparrows Point) put the game away with his seventh goal of the season at the 89:03 mark.

Richardson recorded a season-high eight saves to collect his first shutout win of the year.

Frostburg State returns to action Wednesday when it hosts La Roche at 3:30 pm.
