Men's Soccer Edged by Penn State Behrend

ERIE, Pa — Mark Cipriani scored in the 85th minute off an assist from Marco Loffreda-Mancinelli to give host Penn State Behrend a 1-0 win over Frostburg State in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference action Saturday at the Behrend Fields.

The Lions improved to 10-3 overall and 5-2 in the AMCC, while the Bobcats fell to 6-8 overall and 4-2 in the league.

Frostburg State senior goalie Derek Richardson (New Windsor, Md./Linganore) made five saves in a losing effort. Penn State Behrend junior Matt Zirnsak made seven stops to collect the shutout win.

“We played very well and created opportunities but didn’t finish,” said Bobcat Head Coach Keith Byrnes. “Behrend made the most of its chances and was able to come away with the win.”

FSU will look to rebound Wednesday when it visits La Roche for another AMCC contest beginning at 4 pm.
