Men's Soccer Edged by Western Maryland in Overtime

WESTMINSTER, MD — Western Maryland junior Chris Wineke scored off a scramble in the front of the net with eight minutes left in overtime to lift the Green Terror past visiting Frostburg State, 2-1, Wednesday afternoon.

Western Maryland (8-3) opened the scoring with just 3:04 left in the first half when senior Barclay Losse redirected a pass from freshman Tim McCallum to give the Green Terror a 1-0 advantage at the break.

Frostburg State (6-5) responded with heavy pressure in the second half, peppering Western Maryland senior keeper Ryan Defibaugh with a steady barrage of shots.

Bobcat sophomore Rich Kuhn (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) finally found the net with 15:46 left on the clock, heading a pass from senior Scott Gibson (Myersville, Md./Middletown) into the top left corner to eventually send the game into the extra session.

Junior Mike Pregnall (Herndon, Va./Oakton) stopped seven shots for the Bobcats, while Defibaugh made nine saves for the Green Terror.

Frostburg State, whose five losses have each been by one goal, returns to action on Saturday when it visits Pitt-Bradford for a key Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference match beginning at 3:30 p.m.
