Men's Soccer Falls Short in Upset Bid of No. 17 Drew

Allentown, Pa. … Frostburg State matched No. 17 Drew University through nearly 100 minutes of scoreless action before Ranger junior Justin Bonura found the net off a deflection, handing the Bobcats a hard-fought 1-0 overtime loss Friday afternoon at the Muhlenberg Classic.

Drew (3-0), which advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division III Tournament last season, entered the contest having scored 17 goals in their first two games of the season, but the Bobcats held strong and fended off heavy pressure in the closing minutes of regulation.

Drew held a 17-12 edge in shots and a 14-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Senior Mike Pregnall made five saves for the Bobcats, who dropped to 0-2 on the year. Peter Boyer also stopped five shots for Drew.

Frostburg State will face Oswego (N.Y.) State tomorrow at 2:00 p.m.
