Men's Soccer Scoring Drought Continues in Overtime Loss to John Carroll

DELAWARE, OHIO - John Carroll's Chris Heslap hit a shot from inside the box with 6:55 left in the first overtime to lift the Blue Streaks to a hard-fought 1-0 win over Frostburg State Friday night in the opening match of the Ohio Wesleyan adidas Invitational.

The contest was FSU's third straight overtime game and also marked the third consecutive time the Bobcats have been shut out to begin the 2002 season.

John Carroll (2-0) outshot Frostburg State, 16-7, and held a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.

Bobcat senior Mike Pregnall (Oakton/Herndon, Va.) made seven saves, while JCU's Phil Mansell stopped three shots.

John Carroll will face host Ohio Wesleyan (3-0) in Saturday's championship match at 7:30 pm. OWU held off Kalamazoo, 2-1 in overtime, in Friday's second contest.

Frostburg State (0-2-1) will take on Kalamazoo (1-2) in Saturday's consolation match beginning at 5:00 pm.
