Men's Tennis Beats Shenandoah

FROSTBURG, MD - The Frostburg State men's tennis team evened its record on the season with a 7-2 win over Shenandoah Wednesday afternoon at the Cordts Tennis Complex.

FSU is now 7-7 overall this spring.

The Bobcats won five out of the six singles matches and two out of the three doubles events.

Sophomore Andy Chisholm (Pylesville, Md./North Harford) led the way for Frostburg State with a win at No.1 singles over Stew Wetmore, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6. Freshman Greg Shedd (Middletown, Md./Middletown) was victorious in No. 2 singles over John Jarrell, 6-0, 6-2 and sophomore Matt Chisholm (La Plata, Md./La Plata) beat John Murray in No. 3 singles action, 6-3, 6-3.

Junior Chris Schoenbauer (Riva, Md./South River) blanked Travis Dohm, 6-0, 6-0 in No. 5 singles, while senior Matt Quinn (Mechanicsville, Md./Chopticon) took home the No. 6 singles title, 6-0, 6-2 over Daniel Plummer.

In doubles, Shedd and freshmen Fabian Uribe (Elgin, Ill./Elgin) won the No. 2 match over Dohm and Doug Nilson, 8-1, and Schoenbauer and Quinn downed Murray and Chris Overstreet in the third match, 8-2.

The Bobcats compete in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Tournament this weekend in Wexford, Pa. at the Oxford Athletic Club.
