Men’s Tennis Defeats AMCC Opponent Penn State Altoona 9-0

ALTOONA, Pa. - Senior Chris Schoenbauer (Riva, Md./South River) and junior Andy Chisholm (Pylesville, Md./North Harford) helped lead Frostburg State past Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Penn State Altoona, 9-0, Tuesday.

FSU is 7-5 overall and finishes the conference regular-season 5-1 and tied for first place with Penn State Behrend.

Schoenbauer and A. Chisholm, who won both of their singles and doubles matches against PSA, finish the conference regular season undefeated (6-0) in their AMCC singles matches.

Schoenbauer shutout Jared Rute at No. 5 singles 6-0, 6-0 and teamed with senior Brad Yoder (Hyndman, Pa./Christian Liberty Academy) to win No. 3 doubles over Rute and Phil Tarkington, 8-3. A. Chisholm rallied to win No. 2 singles 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 over Brian Bascome and combined with junior Ryan Rice (Hampton, Va./Shape American) to earn an 8-5 victory in No. 2 doubles over Mark Cooper and Andy Brunhuber.

Individually, Yoder won No. 6 singles over Sean Graydon 7-5, 6-3 and Rice downed Tarkington in No. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-4.

In No. 1 singles, sophomore Greg Shedd (Middletown, Md./Middletown) defeated Will Wray 6-3, 6-4 while junior Matt Chisholm (La Plata, Md./La Plata) defeated Brunhuber 6-3, 6-2. Together they won No. 1 doubles over Wray and Brian Bascome, 8-3.

The Bobcats return to action on Saturday, April 14 when they travel to Bethany at 4:00 pm.
