Men’s Tennis Defeats Pitt-Greensburg, 9-0

GREENSBURG, Pa. - For the second time this season, Frostburg State shutout Pitt-Greensburg 9-0 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference men’s tennis action.

With the victory, the Bobcats improve to 6-4 overall and remain undefeated in the conference with a mark of 4-0.

Sophmore Greg Shedd (Middletown, Md./Middletown) led FSU with wins in No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. In singles action, Shedd took care of Derek Whitten 6-1, 6-0 and combined with junior Matt Chisholm (La Plata, Md./La Plata) to win doubles over Whitten and Andrew Hallman, 8-1. M. Chisholm shutout Jeff Grasmedder in No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0.

Senior Andy Chisholm (Pylesville, Md./North Harford) defeated Hallman in No. 2 singles in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, and then went on to team with junior Ryan Rice (Hampton, Va./Shape American) to capture No. 2 doubles, 8-1. Individually, Rice won No. 4 singles with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Matt Mansella.

In the final doubles pair, senior Chris Schoenbauer (Riva, Md./South River) and classmate Brad Yoder (Hyndman, Pa./Christian Liberty Academy) were victorious in No. 3 over Mansella and John White, 8-1. Both players went on for shutout wins (6-0, 6-0) in singles action; Schoenbauer shutout White in No. 5 singles and Yoder shutout Christopher Stangl.

FSU is back in action on Saturday when it faces Penn State Behrend at the Pitt-Greensburg Raquet Club at 9:00 am.
