Men's Tennis Duo to Compete in ITA Regional Championships This Weekend

FROSTBURG, MD — Senior Terence Killen (Darnestown, Md./Quince Orchard) and sophomore Justin Stephens (Oakland, Md./Southern Garrett) will compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III Men's Regional Championships to be held this weekend at Swarthmore College in Swarthmore, Pa.

Killen and Stephens will be among the 64 singles players, and the two will also pair up in the 32-team doubles field.

Stephens, who posted a 17-0 singles mark and won the No. 3 flight at the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Championships a year ago, will take on 16th-seeded Jared Lissauer of Roanoke College on Friday at 9:20 a.m. Lissauer was runner-up at the No. 1 flight at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament and took home ODAC Player of the Year honors.

Killen, who enters his final year as Frostburg State's all-time winningest player with a 68-29 combined singles and doubles career record, will open play against Salisbury University's senior Greg Forster on Friday at 11:50 a.m. Killen was 14-2 in singles action last season and won the No. 4 title at the AMCC Championships.

Killen and Stephens will then partner in doubles competition to face Swarthmore's John Thomas and Frank Visciano, the tournament's fifth seed, on Friday at 2:00 p.m.

Saturday's action will include the singles round of 16 and quarterfinals as well as the doubles quarterfinals and semifinals.

The singles semifinals and championship and the doubles championship will be held Sunday.
