Men's Tennis Falls to Waynesburg

FROSTBURG, Md. — The Frostburg State men’s tennis team fell to visiting Wayneburg 8-1 in non-conference action Thursday afternoon.

The Bobcats dropped to 1-3 on the season, while the Yellow Jackets improved to 5-5 with their fourth straight victory.

Senior Gary Lyst (Silver Spring, Md./Blair) and freshman Matt Chisholm (La Plata, Md./La Plata) picked up FSU’s lone win of the day by edging Matt Otis and Brian McAnulty 8-6 at No. 1 doubles.

Chisholm gave the Bobcats their best chance in singles action, dropping a hard-fought 3-6, 6-4, 3-6 battle to Mark Gates at the third flight.

Waynesburg posted 8-2 and 8-0 victories at the Nos. 2 and 3 doubles spots and captured the other five singles spots in straight sets.

FSU returns to action tomorrow when its hosts Charleston at 1:00 pm.
