Men's Tennis Places Seven on AMCC All-Conference Teams

GIBSONIA, Pa. — Junior Ryan Rice (Hampton, Va./Shape American) was named the Co-Newcomer of the Year and Stuart Swink was voted as the league’s Coach of the Year as Frostburg State placed seven players on the All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Team.

Rice, the reigning conference Player of the Week, took home the individual honor as well as first-team honors in both No. 4 singles and No. 2 doubles after capturing titles in both matches at the AMCC Championships. On the season, Rice finished with a 10-4 overall record in singles play and a 9-5 mark in doubles action.

Swink captured his first AMCC coaching award in his five seasons with the Bobcats after guiding the team to its first league title since 2001. Swink led FSU to a 7-5 overall record and a 5-1 league mark, the team’s best finish since FSU finished 11-6 overall and 4-2 in the league in Swink’s first season at the helm in 2003.

Joining Rice on the first-team singles ballot are senior Chris Schoenbauer (Riva, Md./South River) and junior Matt Chisholm (La Plata, Md./La Plata). Schoenbauer was named to the first team after capturing the No. 5 singles title at the league championships while M. Chisholm won the No. 3 singles title for the third-consecutive season. Junior Andy Chisholm (Pylesville, Md./North Harford) was named to the league’s first team after capturing the conference title in No. 2 doubles. A. Chisholm was also a second-team all-conference selection in No. 2 singles.

M. Chisholm and sophomore Greg Shedd (Middletown, Md./Middletown) were named to the second team in No. 1 doubles while Schoenbauer and senior Brad Yoder (Hyndman, Pa./Christian Liberty Academy) grabbed second-team all-conference honors in No. 3 doubles.
