Men's Tennis Sweeps Conference Opponent Pitt-Greensburg

FROSTBURG, Md. - The Frostburg State men’s tennis team swept Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Pitt-Greensburg in straight sets, winning 9-0, Tuesday afternoon at the Cordts Tennis Complex.

Sophmore Greg Shedd (Middletown, Md./Middletown) downed Derek Witten in No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-1 and then teammed up with junior Matt Chisholm (La Plata, Md./La Plata) to defeat Witten and Bob Dubois in No. 1 doubles 8-0.

M. Chisholm took down Andrew Hallman in No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-3 while teammate Andy Chisholm (Pylesville, Md./North Harford) crusied to a victory over Dubois in No. 2 singles. A. Chisholm then paired up with junior Ryan Rice (Hampton, Va./Shape American) to win No. 2 singles 8-1 over Hallman and Jeff Grasmeder.

Rice and seniors Chris Schoenbauer (Riva, Md./South River) and Brad Yoder (Hyndman, Pa./Christian Liberty Academy) all won their singles matches in straight sets.

In No. 3 doubles, Yoder and freshman Shawn Wade (Elkton, Md./Elkton) beat John White and Matt Marsella 8-1.

Frostburg State returns to action today when it travels to nonconference opponent Juniata at 3:30 pm.
