Men's Tennis Upends Penn State Behrend and Alfred

ERIE, Pa. - The Frostburg State men’s tennis team defeated Alfred and Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Penn State Behrend in a trimatch, Saturday.

FSU defeated PSB 6-3 and shutout AU 9-0 to improve to 4-2 overall on the season.

In the 6-3 win over the Lions, the Bobcats won five of the six singles matches and one of the three doubles events. Senior Andy Chisholm (Pylesville, Md./North Harford) was victorious in No. 2 singles with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 win over Miles Boyea while junior Matt Chisholm (La Plata, Md./La Plata) downed Jim Palmer 6-3, 6-3 in No. 3 singles.

Junior Ryan Rice (Hampton, Va./Shape American) came from behind to defeat Shane Mosier in No. 4 singles. Rice fell behind 4-6 after the first set but rallied with 6-2 scores in the final two sets to earn the win.

In No. 5 singles, senior Chris Schoenbauer (Riva, Md./South River) got past James Getty 6-2, 6-2 and senior Brad Yoder (Hyndman, Pa./Christian Liberty Academy) defeated Trevor Daugherty 6-3, 6-2.

In doubles, sophomore Greg Shedd (Middletown, Md./Middletown) teamed with M. Chisholm to win No. 1 singles, 9-8, over Boyea and Scott Shaw.

Against Alfred, FSU won all six singles and all three doubles matches.

Shedd led the way in singles action with a 7-6, 6-2 win in No. 1 over Gary Stratiev while A. Chisholm beat Kevin Dillon in No. 2, 6-7, 6-2, 7-6.

M. Chisholm took care of Greg Badger in No. 3, 6-1, 6-2 and Rice rallied past John Reagan in No. 4, 5-7, 6-1, 7-6. FSU earned the final two singles wins from Schoenbauer and Yoder. Schoenbauer downed Tim Pruyn 6-1, 6-0 and Yoder beat Scott Checcino 6-2, 6-1.

In doubles action, the teams of Shedd/M. Chisholm and A. Chisholm/Rice each won by the count of 8-2. Shedd and M.Chisholm won No. 1 over Stratiev and Dillon while A. Chisholm and Rice won No. 2 over Reagan and Badger. Schoenbauer and Yoder combined to defeat Pruyn and Checcino in No. 3 doubles, 8-4.

FSU is back in action tomorrow when it hosts Grove City at 3:00 pm.
