Piano Faculty to Present “Yamaha Clavinova Festival” at FSU

The Frostburg State University piano faculty and guests will present a Yamaha Clavinova Festival at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16, in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU’s Performing Arts Center. The concert will feature 15 performers on 10 pianos – all performing at the same time.

Featured pianists from the Frostburg and Cumberland area will include Joan DeVee Dixon, Fanny Witmer, Laura Godfrey, Betty Jane Phillips, Ellen Putnam and Chris McCabe. The concert will also feature numerous teachers and students from the West Virginia Music Teachers Association in Morgantown, including Lya Cartwright, Keith Holtzclaw, Bob Kleeb, and Jessica Cappellini.

Selections will include “Scaramouche” by Milhaud, “Scherzo” by Mendelssohn, “Canon in D” by Pachelbel, “Overture to Il Signor Bruschino” and the “William Tell Overture” by Rossini, “Finale for Strings” by Phillip Keveren, “Addams Family Mischief” by Joan Dixon, “The Entertainer” by Joplin, “Semper Fidelis,” “Star Spangled Banner” and “America, the Beautiful.” The ensemble from West Virginia will perform several original compositions by Susan Ogilvy: “Baroque Festival,” “Simple Gifts,” “Dual in the Desert,” “Rev It Up,” “Whoo-hoo,” “Bartokian Dance” and Drumline Two.
